Before immersing myself in the world of the healing arts, in my early 20's I was fortunate to study fine arts. I was introduced to the concept of the right or creative brain at art school in my home town of Montreal, Canada. Next, I was immersed in the works of the legendary masters and their stories in Florence, Italy where I lived for 4 years, and studied classical technique. I was enchanted by the magic of color, form and allegory that inspired the art of the renaissance. My academic study of art in Italy was complemented by the rich meditative states I'd visited through the right brain deep dives I was initiated into in Montreal. Now, after a 30 year pause from painting, I understand these experiences as a path to samadhi or absorption, and this is the main goal of my artistic exploration; to be completely immersed in the creative experience. (Not that I don't obsess, question, and pull my hair out trying to figure stuff out sometimes but then hopefully find my way back to the immersive state of presence)! It's a bonus to be left with a tangible piece of work that's a testament to the journey. In my 20's this deep dive experience inspired my studies in the healing arts so that I could not only journey deeply, but I could also help others in the process. Today I hope that my artistic journeying can likewise touch lives.
